Described as a housewife, reports said Abbey’s body was abandoned by the yet to be identified man who fled immediately without informing the hotel’s management about what happened.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, described Abbey’s death as sudden and unnatural adding that her body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, and investigation into the matter has started.
Located at 11, Otunba Oladokun Street, Lanre Bus Stop, Igando, Lagos, staff were said to have been confused on how she could have died.
Hotel’s manager identified simply as Saliu reportedly said he had not found any physical injury on her body to help explain what might have caused her death.
He had told reporters that Abbey who arrived the hotel with the young man, booked a room and went in. “After staying for several hours in the room the man came out and told the security men that he wanted to buy food outside and he did not return to the hotel,” he said.
They later discovered the woman lying dead on the bed in the room.
PMNews said the owner of the hotel, Otunba Richard Oladokun was informed about what happened on phone by his manager and he went to the police station at Igando and reported the matter. However, he said what surprised him most was that the young man who brought the woman to the hotel initially picked his calls and promised to come back but did not. Rather, he later switched off his phone and no one has been able to contact him again since the incident happened
